Exactly two years before the Babri Masjid at Ayodhya was brought down, brick by brick, on December 6, 1992, horrifying scenes unfolded on the dusty streets and unpaved lanes of the ancient temple town as saffron activists and seers engaged in a free-for-all with men in uniform.
