Assam Election 2021: Assam is set to have its assembly elections soon along with West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pudducherry as the five-year term of the state assembly is set to expire on May 31, 2021.


While the Bhartiya Janata Party government rules Assam, it not resting on its last victory as it aggressively campaigns to retain power in the state. The saffron party is confident of winning with 100 plus seats in the 126-member assembly.

Meanwhile, the Congress which was superseded by BJP in 2016, has formed a grand alliance with perfume baron Badruddin Ajmal’s All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and four other parties.


The BJP had fought the 2016 Assam polls in alliance with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) registering a decisive victory.


The state will now go to polls in three phases starting March 27.


Phase 1:


The Phase 1 polling will take place for 47 seats on March 27, Saturday in the following constituencies:
