New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the District Magistrates of different districts of the country via video conferencing and took direct feedback from them regarding progress and present the status of the implementation of government schemes and programs in the district.

According to a statement released by the PMO, the government has continuously taken several steps to overcome the asymmetry in growth and development across the country, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is in line with the commitment of the Government towards raising the living standards of all citizens and ensuring inclusive growth for all.

PM Modi heard the reviews by DM's of various districts and discussed solutions to improve the situation. Here are some key highlights of his speech:

  • PM Modi said, "District administrations have an important role in good governance. It helps govt to implement the schemes in a better way. Detail guidelines should be made for field visits and inspections."

  • PM Modi further said that every district needs to learn from the success of others and also evaluate their challenges.

  • The Prime Minister also called for direct, emotional connect between administration and public to ensure 'top to bottom' as well as 'bottom to top' governance flow.

  • Appreciating the work of district administrators, PM Modi said, "Today, aspirational districts are eliminating the barriers to the progress of the country. With the efforts of all of you, aspirational districts are becoming accelerators of growth instead of impediments."

  • Aspirational districts have proved that removing silos in the implementation process can result in one and one becoming eleven, said the PM.

Launched by the Prime Minister in January 2018, the aspirational districts programme aims to quickly and effectively transform 112 most under-developed districts across the country.

The chief ministers of states such as Gujarat, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh also participated in the interaction.
