New Delhi: As the national capital heads closer to Assembly elections which is likely to take place in February 2020, ABP News organised a townhall meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to check the mood of people ahead of polls. During the meeting, ABP News also took questions from people for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener. While many people thanked Kejriwal for his work in electricity, water, education, free bus rides, some also raised concerns over issues such as Yamuna water, full statehood and pollution.

While speaking at the townhall, Delhi CM also said that the politics in national capital is changing. "Earlier, there used to be competition only between two parties - BJP and Congress - but things have changed since we took over the government with 67 out of 70 seats in the state," he said.

Kejriwal started the townhall with reminding his government's work in the field of education. He said that revolutionary work has been done by AAP government in improving the quality and infrastructure of government schools of Delhi. "Many people are now removing their children from private schools and getting them admission in government school," Kejriwal said.

Lauding his government's work in the past five years with giving several perks to the people of Delhi, Kejriwal said that we are returning people's money to them. "From medicines to health tests, we made them all free for the people," he said.

Speaking at his fifth town-hall meeting, Kejriwal said his focus is to beautify Delhi and 40 roads are being redesigned in the city. "The redesigning would be done by November, if okay, then all roads will be done accordingly. We will make roads of Delhi like that of London and Tokyo," he said.

When asked about how his government is planning to improve women safety in the national capital, Kejriwal said that Delhi government has taken several steps to ensure women safety which includes free bus rides for women, installation of CCTV cameras in several areas, appointment of marshals in DTC buses. "Many works have been done, but a lot still needs to be done," Kejriwal said seeking return of his government in the upcoming Assembly elections.

When asked about pending works that his government intends to do, Kejriwal said that in next one year his government will work to clean up the polluted Yamuna River. "I promise that our government will make Yamuna's water so clean that people would be able to take dip in it," he said.

Expressing concern over increasing number of fire incidents in Delhi, he said action will be taken if a trend is found in fire incidents.

"I'm concerned about the incidents of fire. We have ordered inquiries into all these incidents and if we find a trend on reasons behind the fires and we can solve them by taking a particular action, then we will definitely implement it," he said.

While concluding the townhall, Kejriwal said that people were kept in dark from last 70 years. "Government has no lack of money, we have given facilities to people from the same money," he said adding that intention of the government should be towards working for the government.

Kejriwal is seeking return of his government in the upcoming Assembly elections after recording a massive win in 2015 where his party bagged as many as 67 of 70 Assembly seats in Delhi leaving the Opposition almost empty handed.
