Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Monday said that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is becoming the epitome of controversies. Whether it is a foreign channel, agency, or even foreign land, he has spared none in using to defame India, Thakur alleged. The Union Minister while talking to news agency ANI said that Gandhi, in order to hide his own failures, has taken a contract to defame India from a foreign land.

Thakur went on to say that this is not the first time that Rahul Gandhi had done it. "His language, thoughts & work style are suspicious. He raised questions on the COVID-19 vaccines that were made in India, raised questions on the Indian Army, and went to chat with Chinese officials. When our jawans were martyred, he said, a few people were killed in a car bomb explosion. Congress party can be this weak but India isn't that he'll ask America to intervene," the union minister remarked, as quoted by ANI.

Thakur asked Rahul Gandhi to not betray India and commented that his remarks on India's foreign policies are a representation of his poor intelligence.

The remarks come as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raised several questions about India's position and leadership in the world under the Narendra Modi-led Union government. He claimed that intelligence officials told him his conversations were being recorded and that his phone was compromised with Israeli spyware Pegasus.

Before Thakur, Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju criticised Rahul Gandhi for saying that democratic institutions such as the Indian judiciary were under pressure under the Modi government. "Indian judiciary cannot be questioned, especially the wisdom of judges cannot be put into public scrutiny."
