The BJP accused the ruling Trinamool Congress for the murder of Dulal Kumar, whose body was spotted hanging from an electric pole in Dabha village of Purulia's Balarampur.
"There's a nexus of goons of the TMC in West Bengal which has been looting the state. Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek had said that he would make West Bengal’s Purulia opposition free. On his direction, people have been murdered," BJP West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya said.
The senior BJP leader said when he got to know about "kidnapping" of Kumar Friday night, he spoke to ADG (Law & Order) Anuj Sharma to trace and find the BJP worker.
"I told the ADG (Law & Order) that Kumar's mobile numbers are switched off and his motorcycle has also been found but he is untraceable. I thought the police would react to it. But today morning his body was found," he added.
Vijayvargiya said it's "shameful" that the local police has termed it a matter of suicide.
"It cannot be a case of suicide. It's a murder," he told ABP News.
On Wednesday, the body of a BJP worker named Trilochan Mahato was found hanging from a tree in Purulia's Balarampur with a message inscribed on the back of his T-shirt, accusing him of supporting the BJP.
A handwritten letter found nearby said: "This is for doing BJP politics from age 18. Been trying to kill you since the vote. Failed. Today you are dead." A similar message was scrawled on his white T-shirt.
Trilochon and his father Hariram, a BJP mandal president, had played a key role in Balarampur during the rural polls that saw the BJP win all nine gram panchayats and two zilla parishad seats in the block. A mandal covers an area with 60 to 70 booths.
"He did not return home last night and called us to inform that he had been abducted by Trinamul supporters. This morning, we found his body. My son had to pay a price for his association with the BJP," Hariram said.
Hariram has lodged an FIR against six Trinamul workers.
The BJP has called a bandh in Balarampur on Thursday.
Party president Amit Shah tweeted: "Deeply hurt by the brutal killing of our young karyakarta, Trilochan Mahato in Balarampur, West Bengal. A young life full of possibilities was brutally taken out under state's patronage. He was hanged on a tree just because his ideology differed from that of state sponsored goons."
He added: "The present TMC govt in West Bengal has surpassed the violent legacy of Communist rule...."
