New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah who is on a two-day tour of West Bengal to check poll preparedness of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit visited the Dakshineswar Kali temple in Kolkata.
"Today is my second day of Bengal tour and I have started my day from Dakshineswar Kali temple from where many get inspiration. I have visited the place earlier too and each time have left the place filled with inspiration and positivity," said Shah.
He added, "Bengal is the land of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Thakur Ramakrishna Paramhans, Vivekananda and others. Appeasement politics has hurt the state's tradition. I urge people to fulfill their responsibilities to restore the pride of the state which was centre of spiritual & religious awakening."
On Thursday the minister visited Bankura and had a closed-door meeting with party workers. He stated that BJP will win and will secure two-thirds of the seats. He also said that to make the country safe and for employment opportunities for the youth, it's necessary to have a BJP government in Bengal.

Meanwhile, CM Mamata Banerjee has hit out at Shah, for asking people to remove TMC from power. "You will uproot Mamata Banrjee government. Who will uproot you for such an increase in the prices of potatoes and onions? You have to see what people will eat. There is a pandemic going on in the market too," said Banerjee in a report by PTI.
She has also lashed out after the Income Tax took CRPF personnel for its raid of properties of coal mafia in Bengal. According to Banerjee, the Centre is keeping the state in the dark and is using central agencies for the work. A report by PTI says that the BJP presently has eight MLAs in the state. The party also has the support of eight TMC MLAs who switched to the saffron party after the 2019 general elections. BJP's strength has increased in the state in the last few years and has emerged as a leading rival. The assembly polls in the state are scheduled in April-May 2021.
