Bahujan Samjwadi Party Supremo Mayawati said while remembering the contributions of Ambedkar, that is incomplete caravan shall be taken ahead by BSP.

Mayawati tweeted: “Homage to Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on his birth anniversay. Heartfelt greetings and felicitations to his millions of followers in the country and across world, and the determination to complete the unfinished caravan of the humanistic spirit of self-esteem and pride”.

Ambedkar, who came from an extremely backward caste went on to become a social reformer, apart from playing his major role in the Indian independence struggle. Upon India's independence on 15 August 1947, the new Congress-led government invited Ambedkar to serve as the nation's first Law and Justice Minister, which he accepted. On 29 August, he was appointed Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee, and was appointed by the Constituent Assembly to write India's new Constitution.

President Kovind tweeted: “Homage to Dr B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. An icon of our nation, and Chief Architect of the Constitution, Dr Ambedkar waged a life-long struggle for a modern India free of caste and other prejudices, ensuring equal rights for women and weaker sections.”

PM Modi tweeted: “Tribute to the architect of the Constitution and the pioneer of social justice Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on his jayanti. Jai Bhim!”

Congress president Rahul Gandhi wrote on the micro-blogging website: “On Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s jayanti, let us re-dedicate ourselves to the 4 universal values of JUSTICE, LIBERTY, EQUALITY & FRATERNITY enshrined in our Constitution.”

He also launched a covert attack at his rivals and said: “Those who pay him tributes on this day, while insidiously weakening these values, do his memory disservice.”

Congress leader Ashok Gehlot wrote: “My humble tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. Babasaheb Ambedkar gave us the ideals of social justice and equality as an architect of our Constitution. Let's follow the path shown by him to make India a soulful country ensuring equality and justice for all.”
