New Delhi: The Amarnath Yatra was temporarily suspended from the Nunwan Pahalgam base camp due to bad weather conditions as heavy rain lashed the Kashmir Valley. However, the yatra from the Dhumail side is on, with 5982 pilgrims left to visit the holy cave.
“Amarnath Yatra has been paused from the Nunwan Pahalgam base camp early today due to heavy rainfall in the area. Meanwhile, yatra from the Dhumail side has been ongoing with 5982 pilgrims left to visit the holy cave”, said a government official as quoted by ANI.
After last week's cloudburst incident that triggered flash floods, the yatra partially resumed on July 11.
The Yatra was suspended on Friday after the cloudburst incident. Fifteen people were dead and at least three dozen were missing after a cloudburst triggered flash floods near the cave shrine of Amarnath.

Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha on Sunday visited a base camp in Pahalgam and met pilgrims.
Earlier today, Sinha told ANI, that rescue operations have almost ended.
“All passengers are insured with Rs 5 lakh already but we've decided that the families of those who died in the Amarnath cloudburst will get an additional Rs 5 lakh from the shrine board”, he was quoted by the agency.
