Amarnath Yatra 2022: J&K Police Ask Pilgrims Vehicles To Move With Convoy, Issues Fresh Advisory

According to the advisory, many small cars have been observed to be moving quickly. In such scenario, buses are abandoned thus creating a chasm. Convoy is extended and separated.

Amarnath Yatra 2022: In order to ensure the safe and secure movement of yatri vehicles, the Jammu and Kashmir police has issued a travel advisory for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. 

According to the advisory, many small cars have been observed to be moving quickly. In such scenario, buses are abandoned thus creating a chasm. Convoy is extended and separated.

As per the advisory, convoy escort commander are directed to ensure the following:

1. Keep two vehicles in front, parallel to each other so that no vehicle behind them is able to overtake. Same method be followed in the rear of the convoy. 

2. Lead pair of vehicles to move at a constant speed of 60 kmph so that buses are able to keep pace.

3. If any vehicle becomes faulty, it may be left behind. One BP vehicle be kept with that vehicle for security and escort.

J&K: Two LeT Terrorist Killed In Encounter In Kulgam Near Amarnath Yatra Route

Earlier on Wednesday, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in South Kashmir's Kulgam district and two local terrorists of the proscribed terror outfit LeT were reportedly been killed in the gunfight.

It was informed that an encounter was taking place in the Mir Bazar area of district Kulgam which is just 2 kilometers away from the National Highway where from Amarnath Yatra Cavalcade passed just a few hours ago earlier on that day.

Previously on Wednesday, the first batch of 4,890 pilgrims had left for Amarnath Yatra from Jammu amid tight security arrangements from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu city for their onward journey to the Pahalgam and Baltal base camps in Kashmir. 

"Adequate security measure has been put in place for the base camps and lodging places in Jammu city. Security is a major challenge," Jammu Senior Superintendent of Police Chandan Kohli said.

The 43-day pilgrimage to the cave shrine will begin from twin base camps in Kashmir on Thursday and will conclude on August 11 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
