Chandigarh: Taking a jibe at Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu post Captain Amarinder Singh’s resignation as the chief minister, Haryana Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anil Vij on Saturday said its script was written on the same day the cricketer-turned-politician entered the grand old party because wherever the “saint” went, destruction followed.
“Captain Amarinder Singh has resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Punjab. Its script was written on the same day Navjot Singh Sidhu entered the Congress because wherever the ‘saint’ went, destruction followed,” he tweeted in Hindi.

Earlier in the day, Singh submitted his resignation to Governor Banwarilal Purohit at the Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh.
Soon after submitting his resignation, Singh spoke to the media outside the Raj Bhavan and said that he had spoken earlier to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi informing her about his decision to resign as the chief minister.
“This has happened for the third time in two months. They called the MLAs to Delhi twice and now this the CLP meet. I feel humiliated and thus I have decided to leave the CM’s post. They (party high-command) can appoint anyone they have confidence in,” he said expressing his displeasure.
“I have resigned from the chief minister’s post. Politics in future is always an option. I would use this option when I get the chance to do so,” he added when asked to comment on his future plans.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Congress MLAs have authorized the party president to pick the new CLP leader.
