Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday vowed justice in the Delhi car blast that killed 12, stressing that the central government is taking the attack "very seriously" and that all those responsible will be brought to justice. He expressed grief over the tragic incident and said that the investigative agencies will get to the bottom of the conspiracy and take action against those involved.
Speaking from Bhutan, where he arrived for a two-day state visit, PM Modi said, "Today, I come here with a very heavy heart. The horrific incident that took place in Delhi yesterday evening has deeply saddened everyone. I understand the grief of the affected families. The entire nation stands with them today. I was in touch with all the agencies investigating this incident throughout last night. Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice."
PM Modi's remark came after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that the top investigative agencies are carrying out a “swift and thorough” probe into the recent high-intensity explosion near the Red Fort, assuring that those behind the attack will be brought to justice and the findings made public soon.
Addressing the “Delhi Defence Dialogue” at the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), Singh expressed grief over the loss of lives in the blast that killed 12 people and injured several others.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident that occurred in Delhi yesterday. I pray that God gives strength to the bereaved families in this hour of deep sorrow,” he said.
He further stated, “From this platform, I want to assure that the country’s leading investigative agencies are conducting a swift and detailed inquiry into the incident. The findings will be shared soon, and those responsible for this tragedy will not be spared under any circumstances.”
A powerful explosion tore through a slow-moving Hyundai i20 near the Red Fort at around 6:52 PM, killing at least 12 people and damaging multiple nearby vehicles.
