An Air India Express flight which was headed to Phuket returned to Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport shortly after takeoff on Saturday morning.
Flight IX110, operated by a Boeing 737 Max 8 (registration VT-BWA), took off at 6:40 AM—approximately 20 minutes later than its scheduled departure of 6:20 AM, according to a report on Times of India.
The real-time data from FlightRadar24 showed the aircraft making a mid-air turnaround soon after takeoff. The reason for the return has not yet been revealed by the airline or airport authorities. It was initially slated to land in Phuket at 11:45 AM.
Air India Says Technical Glitch Experienced
Later, Air India said that they took the decision to return after a technical issue.
An Air India Express Spokesperson said, as per ANI, "Shortly after take-off, crew on one of our flights exercised abundant caution and elected to return to Hyderabad on account of a technical issue. We arranged an alternative aircraft on priority, provided refreshments to guests during the delay, and the flight has since departed. We regret the inconvenience while reiterating that safety remains the priority in every aspect of our operations."
