A massive fire broke out in a rubber factory in Delhi's Malviya Nagar.
A dense plume of smoke billowed from a burning truck and the godown in Khirki Extension area was causing panic among locals. Then police evacuated the area to ensure the safety of the people living near the godown.
As many as 80 fire engines were deployed to contain the fire since last evening. Firefighters were struggling to contain the fire. The Indian Air Force had launched a Mi 17 helicopter for Bambi operations from PALAM to try and contain the fire at the godown.
No casualty was reported in the incident.
It is said that the fire started from a truck parked near Sant Nirankari School in Malviya Nagar. The truck was loaded with rubber sheet from a godown. The fire from the burning truck spread to the godown.
