New Delhi: One again, the official Twitter account of All India Majils-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) was 'hacked' on Sunday. Party sources said that the account was hacked at around 1 pm today.
According to media reports, the hackers changed the Twitter profile name from AIMIM to 'Elon Musk'. The profile picture of the handle was also changed with the photo of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
"Nine days ago also the Twitter accountof AIMIM was hacked but we communicated to Twitter and the account was restored. Now again the account has been hacked," a spokesperson of the Hyderabad headquartered party told news agency PTI.
The spokesperson further said that while no new tweets were posted on the account, a complaint to Hyderabad police will be lodged on Monday.
It is to be noted that this is the second time in a month that AIMIM's Twitter account has been hacked. The same account was hacked nine days ago but was restored later. AIMIMs Twitter handle has about 6.78 lakhfollowers.
The incident has happened at the time which the Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM is gearing up for upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls which are scheduled to take place next year.
Last month, the party announced that it would contest 100 seats in UP elections. The AIMIM president said that the party will contest the UP polls in alliance with Om Prakash Rajbhar-led Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and Bhaagidaari Sankalp Morcha, a front of smaller parties.
In the recent panchayat polls in UP, AIMIM performed well in Akhilesh Yadav's constituency Azamgarh and deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's hometown Prayagraj. In 2015, the party had won four seats in the zila panchayat polls. The rise in the graph of AIMIM in the UP panchayat elections has boosted the morale of the party workers.
