Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a veiled attack on the Samajwadi Party at ABP Shikhar Sammelan. Taking potshots at the Akhilesh Yadav government which was in power till 2017, he said Uttar Pradesh's identity has changed from a state of mafia and riots to one of peace in just 7.5 years.

He said that seven and a half years ago, UP had to deal with an identity crisis. "The picture has changed today. Uttar Pradesh's identity has changed from a state of mafia and riots to one of peace in just 7.5 years. In these 7.5 years, we have delivered on our promises. Earlier no one wanted to come to UP. Now, it has become the most preferred investment and tourism destination," Yogi Adityanath said.

"We have increased the jobs and employment opportunities in the private and government sectors. UP now generates employment without bias. There is no bhai-bhatijawad [familialism in government jobs]," CM Adityanath said.

He said that even people who had invested in UP wanted to wrap up their businesses due to fear. "Now, we are now setting the benchmark for businesses. UP got Rs 40 lakh crore investment in the business summit organised last year," CM Yogi said at the ABP Shikhar Sammelan in Lucknow.

He also exuded confidence that by 2029, Uttar Pradesh will be a USD 1 trillion economy. "This roadmap has been made possible because of the policies implemented at every level of governance. For this, we had to implement a zero-tolerance policy. If someone ridicules the law, they will be dealt with accordingly," Yogi Adityanath said.

"We had to bring in sectoral policies and incentivised investments. We freed 64,000 acres of land from land mafia... Today UP is free from dreaded mafias.," Yogi Adityanath said.
