New Delhi: Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury launched a blistering attack at the government and said that the lockdown was an knee-jerk decision taken by the government, without proper planning, while talking to ABP News in its summit  e-Shikhar Sammelan on Friday.

He said that the first coronavirus patient in India was reported on 30th January, but the government did not take any action and even till 26th February the Indian government was busy sending medicine to China. "It was only when singer Kanika Kapoor was found to coronavirus positive and a BJP leader came in contact with her, that the government realized the situation's gravity and thought about imposing lockdown. Had the lockdown been imposed in February then we would have had much better conditions now," said Chowdhury.

The Congress party had been alerting the government since long, but its advice was ignored by those in power. "We are not against lockdown, but against the delay that the government did in taking the decision. It was knee-jerk reaction, a decision taken without proper planning, " said Chowdhary.

He said government could not handle the issue of migrant labourers and the Supreme Court had to take cognizance of the matter.

He also said that while the Congress discussed about the lockdown in the Lok Sabha, BJP was busy with news about ‘Gau mutra’ (cow Urine) and ‘gobar’ (cow dung).

He also said that the 20 lakh crore economic package was just a joke and the government really is not concerned about people.
