NEW DELHI: Launching a scathing attack on Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung, the Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday demanded that he must be arrested in connection with the NDMC lawyer murder case.
While addressing the media, AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha said that the role of Najeeb Jung in NDMC lawyer murder must also be probed.
"There should be an investigation into why LG Najeeb Jung was so interested in NDMC lawyer murder case," Chadha said.
Chadda demanded that Najeeb Jung, BJP MP from East Delhi Maheish Girri and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice Chairman Karan Singh Tanwar, must be arrested in connection with the murder case.
"LG must resign to allow fair probe in the case and he must be arrested. BJP MP Maheish Girri and Karan Singh Tanwar must be arrested as well," the party spokesperson said.
Earlier, the AAP had asserted that both Girri and Karan Singh Tanwar were given clean chit and were outside the amibit of investigation in the murder case and accused the police of "shielding" them.
"Modiji's police is shielding them. If the police were under Delhi government, both Girri and Tanwar would be in jail," AAP leader Dilip Pandey had said.
He had alleged that Girri "accompanied" Ramesh Kakkar (accused in Khan's murder case) to Lt Governor's office in connection with the latter's hotel lease which was to be decided by Khan.
Showing the copy of a "covering letter" purportedly written by Girri, Pandey alleged that it was attached to Kakkar's letter to Lt Governor regarding the lease issue.
Khan, an estate officer of NDMC, was shot dead in Jamia Nagar on May 16, a day before he was scheduled to pass the final order on the lease terms of a hotel located on a property leased out by the civic body.
