New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan along with five others on Thursday was arrested by Delhi Police, as reported by news agency ANI. Amanatullah was protesting against an anti-encroachment drive in south Delhi's Madanpur Khadar area and an FIR has also been registered against him. Earlier today, he was detained by Delhi police at Madanpur Khadar, where SDMC was conducting an anti-encroachment drive. Amanatullah was arrested for obstructing government work from Okhla. 






"In the encroachment removal drive in the area of Madanpur khadar of PS Kalindi Kunj, Amanatullah Khan, along with 5 other supporters, was arrested in Case FIR No. 246/2022 U/s 186/333/353/147/148/149/153 for rioting & obstructing public servants in discharge of duty," said Delhi police as reported by news agency ANI.






On Thursday, the civic bodies of Delhi launched an anti-encroachment drive in various areas. During this, there was a huge protest in the Madanpur Khadar area. Amanatullah Khan was also present in the protest.


Earlier today, South Delhi Municipal Corporation took action against encroachment in about 10 places in its four zones and North Delhi at two places. Meanwhile, the biggest action was taken in Madanpur Khadar, where the corporation demolished three illegally constructed buildings amidst the ruckus. Stones were also pelted on the MCD team, who came to take action with heavy police force. To disperse the people, the police also had to lathi-charge, in which many people were also injured.






On Monday also, during a campaign in Shaheen Bagh, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan had protested. An FIR was registered against him for creating "obstruction" in the work of the officers.


The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) removed illegal and temporary structures on Madanpur Khadar and Dhirsain Marg, while the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) took action in Rohini and Karol Bagh areas.
