Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed pain over the loss of lives in a bus accident in Gujarat's Navsari that killed nine while several were left injured. PM also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured from Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF).


"Pained by the loss of lives due to a road accident in Navsari. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. Those injured would be given Rs. 50,000," PM wrote in a tweet.






Nine people have died and several were injured in a collision between a bus and a car on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai highway in Navsari. According to Navsari Deputy SP VN Patel, one seriously injured has been referred to Surat.


Talking to the news agency ANI, Patel said, "9 people died and several injured in a collision between a bus and a car on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai highway in Navsari. One seriously injured has been referred to Surat."






Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to Twitter to extend his condolences to those who lost family members in the accident and assured support to the injured.


"The road accident in Gujarat's Navsari is heartbreaking. My condolences to those who have lost their families in this tragedy. May God give them the strength






Earlier it was reported that nine people were killed, and around 15 injured as SUV rammed into a luxury bus in Gujarat's Navsari district this morning. The injured have been admitted to hospital.
