New Delhi: In a major road mishap on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway on Sunday morning, at least eight people have lost their lives while around 34 are reported injured.

The accident took place near Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, when a passenger bus collided with a truck on the expressway.  The bus which had apparently lost control, was loaded with passengers. It rammed into a speeding truck on the highway.

Initial reports said that six people have died in the accident, however, over the hours; the latest death toll has been put at eight.

The injured have been rushed to hospital in Saifai.

The accident took place in Karhal area of Mainpuri.  A crane has been deployed at the site of the hospital as efforts to bring out the dead bodies, from the site of crash is underway.


The accident has been reported at 87 km cut at the Luck now Agra Expressway in the Karhal station limits.

SP Ajay Shankar Roy along with police force from several other stations,  are present at the spot and rescue efforts are underway.
