A clash broke out between two groups over playing music outside a Mosque while Namaz was going on, in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district, as reported by the news agency ANI. At least four people have sustained injuries due to the clashes. According to a police offical the present situation in the area is peaceful.
“Two FIRs have been registered, we've arrested 45 people so far. 4 people are injured in the violence. The present situation is peaceful and is under control in the area,” M Rajkumar, Jalgaon SP, as quoted by ANI.
Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis reacted to the incident and called it unfortunate. He also said that efforts are on to bring peace and some people are trying to worsen the situation. "It is an unfortunate incident, efforts are on to bring peace, some people are trying to worsen the situation. Leaders should be careful how they behave in such times. Some leaders are making statements for selfish reasons, they shouldn't do it," Devendra Fadnavis said.
In another incident, some police vans and public vehicles were set on fire after a clash broke out between two groups in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar's Kiradpura area, the Maharashtra police said on Thursday, as reported by the news agency ANI. The clash broke out on the intervening night of March 29 and 30. According to the Commissioner of Police (CP) of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Nikhil Gupta, stones were also pelted during the clash.
Earlier this month, Pimpri Chinchwad police carried out lathi-charge to disperse the crowd after a clash broke out between a group of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) workers during the inauguration of an event at Pimpri Chinchwad city in Maharashtra's Pune district.
According to the police official, there was a chance of clashes between the two groups, so police had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the gathering. The incident happened just before the former Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition (LOP) of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis was to arrive for the inauguration of Atal Bihari Vajpayee garden.
