25 people lost their lives due to the low supply of oxygen in Delhi's 'Jaipur Golden Hospital' today. The hospital administration said that it has only half an hour of oxygen supply and 200 people's lives are at stake.  


ABP News reporter spoke to the kins of the deceased patients who grieved at their loss. Families informed that there was no oxygen left in the hospital at 9:55 am and the hospital took Rs 44 thousand fees from a family on Saturday morning to provide oxygen to their family member knowing it won't last till the morning. The family has raised questions on the hospital administration and even called them a fraud.

According to a report by PTI,  the hospital has over 200 patients and they had only half an hour of oxygen was left at 10:45 am. It received the last refill of oxygen around midnight, after hours of delay.


“Nobody has promised anything. Everybody is saying we will do our best," the medical director said when asked if the hospital received any help from the government. Dr Baluja said the hospital has over 200 patients and 80 per cent of them are on oxygen support. Around 35 patients are in the ICU, Dr DK Baluja, the medical director of Jaipur Golden Hospital, said.


The hospital was to receive its quota of oxygen at 05:30 pm but the supply did not reach it till midnight. Even then, the hospital just received 40 per cent of its allocated quota and is again in a situation of crisis.


The national capital has been witnessing an acute shortage of oxygen for the past few days as the Covid toll is surging high.

Delhi on Friday recorded 24,331 new coronavirus cases and 348 Covid-19 related deaths amid a severe crisis of oxygen and hospital beds in the city. Delhi has a positivity rate of 32 per cent 92,000 active cases. 


Meanwhile, the Moolchand hospital chain in Delhi sent out an SOS this morning over oxygen shortage as it appealed for urgent help from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and Lt Governor Anil Baijal. More than 130 Covid patients are on life support, it stressed.


"Urgent sos help. We have less than 2 hours of oxygen supply @Moolchand_Hos. We are desperate have tried all the nodal officer numbers but unable to connect. Have over 135 COVID pts with many on life support #. @ArvindKejriwal @CMODelh i@LtGovDelhi @satinderjain26 @PMOIndia (sic)," read the tweet put out by Moolchand Healthcare this morning. The hospital has stopped admitting new patients till it resolves the issue.


Also Delhi, Batra Hospital's MD spoke to ANI and said that they are not receiving the adequate amount of oxygen needed for the patients which is making the situation more difficult to handle. 


"We have received only 500-litre of oxygen after pleading for 12 hours. Our daily requirement is 8000 litres. We've 350 patients in the hospital. The treatment of choice in COVID is oxygen but when we don't get it what will happen?",  Dr SCL Gupta, MD, Batra Hospital.


In Amritsar, six patients have died due to oxygen shortage out of which 5 were Covid victims. The MD of the Neelkanth Hospital said," We are facing an oxygen shortage for the last 48 hours. The administration is saying that oxygen will not be given to private hospitals before government hospitals.
