Girls Who Challenged Hijab Ban In HC Are Members Of Terrorist Group: Udupi College Vice-Chairman

On Tuesday, the High Court had upheld the state government's order regarding uniforms in schools and colleges. At the same time, the petitions filed against the hijab ban were rejected.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing row over Hijab, the general secretary of BJP OBC front and vice-chairman of Udupi College Development Committee Yashpal Suvarna on Thursday has termed the students who had filed a case in the High Court against the hijab ban members of a "terrorist organisation".

Speaking to ANI, Suvarna said, "Those six students who went to court saying, they will respect the decision of the court, have given statements which have brought disrepute to our judiciary. They have proved themselves like I earlier said, those six- are not students they are members of a terrorist organisation. The way they have given statements against the three judges have proved they belong to a terrorist organisation."

Meanwhile, Suvarna has also demanded action from the agencies against the students. On Tuesday, the High Court had upheld the state government's order regarding uniforms in schools and colleges. At the same time, the petitions filed against the hijab ban were rejected.

"We have demanded the relevant agencies to take strict action against them. People who make these kinds of statements they shouldn't be allowed to live or work here. They should go to a country where they want to practice their faith. They should not disturb other poor students," Suvarna added.

The BJP leader said that the motive of the girls was to ruin the education policy and harass other students.

"Later they addressed the press stating that it is influenced by the government, it is against the Constitution, they are blaming our judges. If they don't trust our judiciary then they are not fit to be in India. Whoever violates the rules and regulations of the court then you can't be the citizen of India," he added.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Muslim community, angry over the decision of the Karnataka High Court on the hijab case, have called a Karnataka bandh today. The State Chamber of Commerce has also been instructed to join the bandh. Announcing this, Muslim leader Sagir Ahmed said that he would hold a meeting with the clerics of the Muslim community on Thursday. At the same time, no one will be forced to participate in the bandh and it will be extremely peaceful.
