Prices slashed by Rs 2,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh in Delhi, while in Mumbai, the price cut ranges between Rs 28,000 - Rs 3 lakh

It has been a couple of days since Goods and Service Tax (GST) came into effect and we’ve seen automakers wasting no time to get their vehicle prices down to start luring customers to their showrooms. While we’ve seen Maruti, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover and Toyota complete this activity on July 1, Ford India has now joined the list. The Indian arm of the American carmaker has decided to reduce the prices of its vehicles by up to 4.5 per cent with immediate effect.

The prices will vary from state to state but the steepest decline is witnessed in Mumbai, where the burden of pre-GST tax structure was heavier than that of Union Territories like Puducherry and Delhi. In India’s financial capital, prices for Ford cars have been slashed by Rs 28,000 (for the Figo) and Rs 3 lakh (for the Endeavour).

In Delhi, the price of the Figo hatchback has been reduced by Rs 2,000, while the EcoSport is now cheaper by Rs 8,000. The 7-seat Endeavour gets a price cut of up to Rs 1.5 lakh depending on the variant. The company, however, hasn’t shared any details about the prices of its flagship offering - the Mustang.

Recently, Ford India discontinued all the manual variants of the Endeavour, thereby bringing the variant list down to just three from the earlier five. The only trim that has 4x4 system on offer now is the top-spec 3.2-litre 4x4 AT Titanium.
