New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Sunday released four important  national-level helpline numbers for the public to keep handy amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. 


In a letter today, the Ministry asked all private TV news channels to run the national helpline numbers as a ticker or any other appropriate way at periodic intervals.

"In order to further this cause, the private TV channels are advised to promote awareness of the following four national level helpline numbers by way of a ticker or such appropriate ways as they may consider at periodical intervals, especially during prime time," Centre said.

The Centre said that it aims to create awareness on the three critical issues - COVID treatment protocol, COVID appropriate behaviour and vaccination, through various instrumentalities and media platforms, including print, TV, radio and social media. 


The country has been witnessing a downward trend in daily Coronavirus cases and India has registered less than 2 lakh cases for the 2nd consecutive. However, the number of daily fatalities is still worrisome. 


India reported 1,65,553 new COVID 19 cases, 2,76,309 discharges and 3,460 deaths in last 24 hrs, as per Health Ministry. The positivity rate has been less than 10 per cent for the last five days.
