During his remarks, he raised the issue of the deaths of three Indian sailors in a US strike in the presence of US President Donald Trump and delivered a message to the international community. He said that international partnerships and global solidarity can be meaningful only when nations work together to address shared challenges.

The interaction took place as world leaders gathered for the summit hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. Visuals from the venue showed Prime Minister Modi greeting Trump with a smile before the two leaders took their seats alongside other global leaders. However, the trademark Modi-Trump hug was notably absent.
The meeting comes at a significant juncture in India-US relations, with both leaders engaging against the backdrop of recent developments affecting bilateral ties.
First Face-To-Face Meeting Since February 2025
The interaction marked the first face-to-face meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump since the Prime Minister's visit to Washington in February 2025, shortly after Trump began his second term as US President.

The leaders met amid recent strains in India-US relations, including developments surrounding Operation Sindoor and US tariffs on Indian goods.
Modi's Seventh Consecutive G7 Appearance
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Evian on a two-day visit to participate in the summit. This is his seventh consecutive appearance at the G7 Summit, reflecting India's growing role in global discussions and international diplomacy.
Although India is not a member of the G7, it has become a regular participant in the forum and continues to engage on major global issues alongside leading economies.
High-Level Bilateral Engagements Planned
On the sidelines of the summit, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with key world leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The meetings are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties and discussing important regional and global developments.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister is also expected to join other leaders at a gala dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The G7 Summit is expected to focus on a range of pressing global issues, including economic stability, energy security, artificial intelligence, the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, and broader geopolitical developments.
India is expected to use the platform to highlight the concerns of the Global South and advocate for greater international cooperation on issues affecting developing nations.
