The motorcycle is expected to sport a retro design and might cost around Rs 1.5 lakh
News headlines have been abuzz with the Jawa brand recently. After showcasing its beautiful vintage-styled engine, Classic Legends has now announced that it will be unveiling the motorcycle on 15 November 2018. Based on all these developments, we can expect the bike to go on sale some time next year.
Not many details are known about the upcoming Jawa-badged motorcycle, except for the engine specifications. It is a BSVI-compliant 293cc, DOHC, a liquid-cooled single-cylinder unit which churns out 27PS of power and 28Nm of torque. The company states that this engine has a flat torque curve, a strong mid-range and an exhaust note similar to that of the older Jawa bikes. It is based on the same engine that powers the Mahindra Mojo.
Considering the design of the engine, we expect it to be a modern-classic motorcycle with classic round headlamps, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, spoke wheels and overall retro design, making it a direct competition to Royal Enfield's 350cc portfolio. To keep costs in check, Jawa might use telescopic front forks and twin rear shocks instead of a monoshock unit. Considering the current safety norms, it is expected to get disc brakes with a dual-channel ABS unit. In terms of electronics, it might get a semi-digital instrument console and LED headlamps.
As mentioned earlier, the company has been completely tight-lipped about the details. But more information is expected soon as we inch closer to the unveil. Once launched, we expect Jawa to price it aggressively, somewhere around the Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. For more updates, stay tuned!
