Kolkata: An FIR was lodged against Tathagata Roy on May 22 for allegedly tweeting manipulated and false articles which could flare into the direction of a communal violence in Bengal.


Tathagata Roy, former Governor and BJP leader had recently left a tweet showing concerns for the Hindu community in Bengal under the TMC government.

Roy’s tweet talked about an incident which read,” A complaint by 2 Hindu devotees who had gone to offer Puja at a Narayan Mandir in Ward 26 of Kolkata. Trinamooli gundahs said no Hindu pujas will be permitted here. They also threatened the Purohit. Local police refused to register the complaint. Whither hindus of West Bengal.” He had also attached a tweeted video along with this.


Following this tweet, Bibhan Roy Choudhury, a citizen of Kolkata, lodged FIR at the Girish Park P.S. against the activistist for propagating false news which can lead to communal violence and also disturb the peace between different groups of people. 



In reaction to this, Riju Dutta, TMC spokesperson tweeted attaching the FIR copy and the tweet by Tathagata Roy. His tweet read, “A FIR filed against Tathagata Roy for “Hate Propaganda to incite Communal Violence” in Bengal. The conspiracy of BJP to destabilise an elected govt. now stands exposed!!”
