An encounter which broke out between security forces and terrorists in Srigufwara area in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district in the early hours on Monday (July 13) morning is currently underway. At least 2-3 terrorists are believed to be cornered by the security forces in the encounter spot.


Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces are present at the spot. Further details shall follow, said Kashmir Zone Police. A top officer said that a joint team of Anantnag Police, 3 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on a specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area.

The encounter is a part of 'Operation All Out'security forces continued efforts to flush out militants from Kashmir Valley.

On July 11, security forces foiled a major infiltration bid by Pakistan backed terrorists as the Indian Army gunned down two militants on Saturday along the Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector of North Kashmir.

The security forces deployed along the LoC in North Kashmir's Naugam sector detected suspicious movement and swiftly launched an ambush to kill the two militants, defence spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said.
