The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has appointed Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state.


In an order, Chief Secretary to Government Neerabh Kumar Prasad said, "Dwaraka Tirumala Rao IPS (RR:1989), Commissioner, Public Transport Department and Ex Officio VC & MD, APSRTC is transferred and posted as Director General of Police, Coordination O/o Director General of Police (HPF), AP and shall hold full additional charge of the post of Director General of Police (HoPF) AP until further orders"

The current DGP, Harish Kumar Gupta, has been reassigned to the role of Principal Secretary (Home), as per a separate order. Gupta took over as DGP during the enforcement of the poll code, succeeding Rajendranath Reddy.


19 IAS Officers Transferred


Around 19 senior IAS officers were transferred on Wednesday. As per an order issued by Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad, PS Pradyumna, a 2004 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the Secretary to the Chief Minister. Bhaskar Katamneni, also from the 2004 batch, has been named Commissioner of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), as per a report on PTI.


V. Vinay Chand, a 2008 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as Secretary to the Government, Finance Department, among others.


Additionally, senior IAS officers Y. Srilakshmi, Rajat Bhargava, and Praveen Prakash have been instructed to report to the General Administration Department (GAD) for further assignments.


The rejigging of IAS officers comes just as TDP-BJP-JanaSena alliance formed the government in the state after a landslide victory in the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections. Post-election, Chandrababu Naidu took charge as the CM for the fourth time while Pawan Kalyan became Deputy CM.
