New Delhi: An e-EPIC is a secure portable document format (PDF) version of the EPIC which can be downloaded on mobile or in a self-printable form on the computer. A voter can thus store the card on his/her mobile, upload it as a PDF on Digi locker or print it and self-laminate it. This is in addition to PCV EPIC being issued currently. The Government of India launched the National Voter portal to help individuals apply or download for voter ID cards from the comfort of their homes.
How to download a Voter ID card:
- Register/Login on Voter Portal into the website — voterportal.eci.gov.in or nvsp.in
- From the menu navigation click on "Download e-EPIC".
- Enter the EPIC number or Form Reference Number.
- Verify with OTP sent on registered mobile number (if mobile number registered with Eroll).
- Click on "Download e-EPIC".
- If the mobile number is not registered in Eroll, click on e-KYC to complete the KYC.
- Pass the Face liveness verification.
- Update your mobile number to complete KYC.
- Download e-EPIC.

Earlier, it was possible to apply for a voter card only before an election, either local or national. However, it has now been made easier and smoother to apply for a voter ID card through an online application process.
How to apply for a Voter ID card:
- Visit the official election website — nvsp.in
- Register/Login into the website using your mobile number.
- After logging in click on Form 6 to "Apply online for registration of new voter ID".
- Enter basic details like your name, age, gender, residential address and marital status etc.
- Attach all the supporting documents like your identity proof and address proof to complete the enrollment process.
- You will get an application number on your phone and a registered email ID.
There are several types of forms, others are: Form 6A for NRI voters, Form 8 to change in data or information such as name, age, address, photo, DOB, etc., Form 8A to change resident address in the same constituency.
You can use the application number to check the status of your voter ID. To apply for a Voter ID, you must be a citizen of India and age should be above 18 years.
