Reports say Bagga was seeking a ticket from Tilak Nagar, a Sikh-dominated locality.
Bagga, who is extremely active on Twitter, tweeted this morning: "How's the Josh #Bagga4HariNagar" which included a campaign song with the words: "Bagga, Bagga har jagah". The hashtag #Bagga4HariNagar has remained among the the top trends on Twitter since then.
A major fire broke out on Monday in which all the documents related to Delhi Transport Department were burnt, Sunil Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Delhi had said. Bagga lapped up the opportunity to attack the Kejriwal-AAP government accusing it of being involved in a scam.
"BJP will win more than 50 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections, Kejriwal ji is afraid of this. That is why documents were burnt at Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) office, 15 days before the polls," Bagga told news agency ANI.
Bagga had shot into limelight in 2011 when he rammed into the chambers of lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan and thrashed him for his referendum views on Kashmir. He was the chief of an outfit called "Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena"
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday released the second list of 10 candidates for Delhi polls.
Voting for the 70-member Delhi assembly will take place on February 8 while the counting of votes will be held on February 11.
The BJP has been out of power in Delhi for over two decades. In a dismal performance last time, the party could manage only three seats with the ruling AAP stormed into power with a whopping 67 seats.
