Two Consultants of Aviation Ministry, Two Officials of DGCA Died Due to Covid

 Two consultants of the Civil Aviation Ministry and two officials of aviation regulator DGCA have died due to COVID19 till date, government officials stated on Sunday. The two consultants who were retired government servants and were engaged by the ministry on contract basis died during the first wave of COVID19 during 2020, the officials mentioned.

19 new Covid cases in Ladakh; 35 more patients recover

Nineteen new cases of coronavirus were reported in Ladakh, raising its tally to 20,186, while 35 more patients were cured of the infection, officials said on Saturday.

All the 19 persons who returned positive for COVID-19 are from Leh district, the health department officials said.

No death due to COVID-19 was reported in the union territory in the past 24 hours, they said.

So far 206 people, including 148 in Leh district and 58 in Kargil district, have succumbed to the viral disease, the officials said.

Of the 35 patients who were cured and discharged on Saturday, 33 were from Leh and two from Kargil, they said. A total of 19,865 patients have been cured of the disease till now in the UT.

The number of active cases has come down to 115 -- 79 in Leh and 36 in Kargil, the officials said.

COVID-19: India logs 41,506 new cases, 895 fresh fatalities

With 41,506 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,08,37,222, while the active cases declined to 4,54,118, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll has climbed to 4,08,040 with 895 fresh fatalities.

The active cases comprise 1.47 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 97.20 per cent, the data updated at 8 am showed

A decrease of 915 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

As many as 18,43,500 tests were conducted on Saturday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 43,08,85,470.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.25 per cent. It has been less than three per cent for 20 consecutive days, the ministry said, adding the weekly positivity rate has declined to 2.32 per cent.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 2,99,75,064 and the case fatality rate stands at 1.32 per cent, the data stated.

1 fresh fatality, no new COVID-19 case in Andamans

One more COVID-19 patient succumbed to the infection in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, while no fresh case was reported in the archipelago on Sunday, a health bulletin said.

The Union territory's tally stands at 7,492, of which 11 are active cases, while 7,352 people have recovered from the disease and 129 patients have succumbed to the infection to date, it said.

The administration has tested over 4.18 lakh samples for COVID-19 so far, in which the positivity rate was 1.79 per cent.

More than 2.25 lakh people have been inoculated thus far.

Maha: 429 new COVID-19 cases in Thane, 8 more deaths

With the addition of 429 new cases of coronavirus, the infection count in Maharashtra's Thane district has gone up to 5,37,358, an official said on Sunday.

Besides these new cases reported on Saturday, the virus also claimed the lives of eight more people, pushing the death toll in the district to 10,836, he said.

The COVID-19 mortality rate in Thane stood at 2.01 per cent, he added.

Details of recovered and under-treatment patients were not provided by the district administration.

In neighbouring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count has gone up to 1,18,146, while the death toll has reached 2,632, another official said.

Bengal reports 997 new COVID-19 cases, 17 more fatalities

West Bengal's COVID-19 tally rose to 15,11,205 on Saturday as 997 more people tested positive for the infection, while 17 fresh fatalities pushed the death toll to 17,903, a bulletin issued by the health department said.

At least 1,336 more people were cured of the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 14,77,998, it said.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in West Bengal now stands at 97.80 per cent.

The state now has 15,304 active cases.

North 24 Parganas reported five fresh COVID deaths, followed by Nadia at four and Kolkata at three.

The remaining deaths were registered in several other districts.

Though the positivity rate of COVID-19 cases has been declining in the state, four districts -- North 24 Parganas, Purba and Paschim Medinipur and Darjeeling -- with a daily average of 82 infections have become "places of concern" for the health department, an official said.

Since Friday, 52,541 samples were tested for COVID-19 in West Bengal.

Meanwhile, 2,08,752 people were inoculated during the day in the state, the official said.

Assam logs 2,391 new COVID-19 cases, 24 more fatalities

Assam on Saturday reported 24 more COVID-19 deaths, which took the toll to 4,812, according to a bulletin issued by the National Health Mission.

The coronavirus caseload in the northeastern state mounted 5,32,084 as 2,391 more people tested positive for the infection, it said.

Assam now has 21,202 active cases.

At least 2,854 people were cured of the disease during the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 5,04,723, it said.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state stands at 94.86 per cent.

The 2,391 new cases, detected during the day, include 234 from Golaghat, 228 from Kamrup Metro, 206 from Jorhat and 141 from Sonitpur.

The fresh cases were detected from 1,33,308 tests conducted during the day with the daily positivity rate at 1.79 per cent.

Currently, the COVID death rate is at 0.90 per cent, and 1,347 coronavirus-positive patients have died in the state due to other ailments.

The state conducted 1,60,04,058 sample tests for COVID-19 so far.

Altogether, 79,05,337 people have been inoculated with 13,44,806 of them having received both doses of the vaccine.

Nagaland Reports 111 New COVID-19 Cases, Tally at 25,898

 Nagaland's COVID-19 tally rose to 25,898 on Saturday as 111 more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said. The death toll remained at 507 as no new fatality due to the infection was reported in the last 24 hours, it said. Kohima district registered the highest number of new cases at 51, followed by Dimapur (19) and Tuensang (10), the bulletin said. The state now has 973 active cases, while, 23,698 people have recovered from the disease and 720 patients have migrated to other states.

Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, Sunday, July 11: The Gurugram district administration has claimed that over 89 per cent of the population of Gurugram has received Covid jabs.

So far, a total of 15,54,026 beneficiaries have received the Covid vaccine including 18,453 on Saturday.

Apart from this, the district has launched the vaccination programme of Sputnik-V vaccine at Polyclinic, Sector 31 on Saturday in Gurugram. With this initiative, Gurugram has become the first district in the country to introduce the Sputnik-V vaccine at a government health centre in the country.


Active Covid cases dropped below 30,000 to reach 29,262 on Saturday in Andhra Pradesh, even as 2,925 new Covid infections were reported.

On adding the new cases, AP's Covid tally crossed 19.2 lakh.

However, on a positive note, 3,937 more persons recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of recoveries over 18.7 lakh.

East Godavari district reported the highest number of cases at 611, followed by Chittoor (414), West Godavari (361), Prakasam (260), Krishna (250), Guntur (211), Nellore (199), Kadapa (180), Visakhapatnam (139), Kurnool (117), Anantapur (84), Srikakulam (67) and Vizianagaram (32).
