Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday announced to impose complete lockdown in the state in a bid to curb the spread of the deadly Coronavirus. The imposition of lockdown in the state to be effective from the evening of April 29 till the morning of May 3, announced the Chief Minister. 


According to the announcement, only essential services and industrial activities will be allowed to operate during this period.

"Lockdown announced in state from 29th April 7 pm to the morning of 3rd May. Essential services & industrial activities allowed, public transport to remain shut," CM Pramod Sawant said.


Public transport will not be allowed to function. Tourists will have to stay inside their hotel rooms, casinos, hotels and pubs shall remain shut. Borders to remain open for essential service transportation


The Chief Minister further said that North and South Goa collectors will release details of lockdown at 5pm today.


Considering the surge in Covid cases in Goa, all ESI dispensaries in the state will be shut down and the staff working in these dispensaries will be redirected to Covid-19 Hospitals in the state. Goa Government issued an order to this effect on Tuesday, directing that all the dispensaries under ESI be non-operational and shut down with immediate effect.

Consequent to this all the doctors including para medical, non-medical staff etc have been asked to report to the Dean, Goa Medical College for deployment in the Covid Hospitals.
