Seven girl students were hospitalised in Bihar’s Bettiah district after a speeding car ran over them. The incident which was caught on a CCTV camera shows the seven girls on their cycles when a speeding Mahindra Bolero came from behind and ran over them. The girls, who were on their way to coaching classes, were seriously injured in the incident after which they were hospitalised and undergoing treatment, sources told ABP News. 


In February this year, a class 10 student was mowed down by a truck while on her way to tuition classes in the state’s Siwan district. Following the incident, angry locals took to streets and created ruckus at Orma highway that comes under the jurisdiction of Mahadeva police station in Siwan. 


They beat up the driver and set the truck ablaze. They also protested with the girl’s body on the highway, demanding action against the culprits.






As per reports, the locals also claimed that the police extorted money from the accused and did not pay any heed to the locals. However, police later said the accused driver was taken into custody.


In November last year, at least twelve people were killed and several others injured after a truck rammed into a roadside settlement in Mehnar of Vaishali district in Bihar. 


According to reports, people were assembled at state Mahnar-Hajipur highway near Sultanpur to witness Puja procession of Bhuaiyan Baba. 


The injured people were immediately rushed to the Sadar Hospital in Hajipur for treatment.

Following the accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the deceased and a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the injured.


He also wished a speedy recovery to all those who were injured in the accident.


Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also expressed his condolences, and said he is "deeply saddened" by the accident.


The chief minister gave instructions to provide ex-gratia to the families of the deceased as prescribed in standard procedure. Kumar also asked all the authorities concerned to administer proper treatment to all the injured and wished for their speedy recovery.
