Breaking Live: Manipur Village Attacked By Gunmen, Bombs Hurled. No One Injured

Conflict-torn Manipur witnessed a fresh incident of violence as unidentified gunmen, suspected to be cadres of banned terror groups, attacked people and hurled bombs at a village in Imphal West district, bordering Kangpokpi where three persons were killed a day before, officials said on Wednesday, as reported by news agency PTI. However, no one was injured in the incident in Koutruk village where armed men hurled at least ten bombs late Tuesday night.


The bomb attack triggered panic among the villagers, an official said, adding that Indian Reserve Battalion personnel deployed at the area fired shots in retaliation. The fresh violence comes after unidentified armed men, suspected to be members of the outlawed terror groups, killed three persons from the tribal community on Tuesday morning near Kharam Vaiphei village in Kangpokpi district.

Abhishek Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) general secretary, is expected to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 13, according to a well-informed source within the party. This development could result in his absence from the inaugural meeting of the opposition coordination committee known as 'INDIA,' scheduled to take place in the national capital on the same day. The source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, informed PTI about the potential clash in Abhishek Banerjee's commitments.


If he indeed appears before the ED, Abhishek Banerjee is set to present himself to ED officials at their city office on September 13. Abhishek Banerjee, a prominent figure within the TMC and often regarded as its virtual second-in-command, is also a member of the coordination panel for the opposition alliance 'INDIA.'


I.N.D.I.A. Coordination Committee to Discuss Seat Sharing and Election Strategy


The first meeting of the Coordination Committee for the opposition alliance 'INDIA' will take place on Wednesday, September 13. The 14-member panel, considered pivotal for opposition unity, will convene at the residence of NCP leader Sharad Pawar in the evening. The meeting's agenda includes negotiations on a seat-sharing formula and the formulation of a comprehensive campaign strategy ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.


Sources indicate that leaders from various opposition parties have called for swift progress in devising a seat-sharing formula to ensure the presentation of joint opposition candidates against BJP contenders in Lok Sabha constituencies. Nonetheless, it is recognized that the parties must overcome their individual interests and egos to reach a consensus on such a formula. Although specific criteria for seat allocation remain undecided, it is likely to consider party performance in recent polls.


Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to embark on 3-Day Visit to Punjab


Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is scheduled to embark on a three-day visit to Punjab, commencing on September 13, as confirmed by party sources. During this visit, Kejriwal will participate in several significant programs, aiming to fulfill key election promises of the AAP.


Additionally, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is expected to make a significant policy announcement during Kejriwal's visit. On Wednesday, Kejriwal is slated to inaugurate a 'School of Eminence' in Amritsar, alongside Mann, as part of the AAP's commitment to providing high-quality education to the state's children.
