A Total Of 251 Myanmar Refugees Seek Shelter In Mizoram After Airstrikes On Insurgent Camp

A total of 251 Myanmarese refugees have sought shelter in Mizoram's Champhai district after the recent airstrikes on an insurgent camp by the armed forces of the neighbouring country, an official said on Wednesday. Champhai Deputy Commissioner James Lalrinchhana told PTI that 251 Myanmar citizens have entered India and taken shelter in three villages in Champhai since the airstrikes on the headquarters of Chin National Army (CNA). The Myanmar armed forces had launched two aerial attacks targeting Camp Victoria, the military headquarters of CNA located close to the India-Myanmar border, on January 10 and 11.

Delhi Police Busts Espionage Network 'Leaking' Finance Ministry Information, One Held

Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted an espionage network invoked in leaking sensitive information related to the Ministry of Finance. Contractual employee Sumit, a data entry operator was arrested for espionage activities in lieu of money and providing classified data to foreign countries, news agency ANI reported. During his search, one mobile phone which was being used by him for sharing secret information related to the Ministry of Finance was recovered. A case has been registered under the Official Secrets Act, Delhi Police Crime Branch said.

The PM said that the Mahakumbh will benefit country's youth power as young athletes who perform well at Saansad Khel Mahakumbh are being selected for further training at Sports Authority of India's training centres.


Another speciality of Saansad Khel Mahakumbh is that our daughters are participating in it in large numbers. I am confident that the daughters of Basti, Purvanchal, UP and the country will similarly show their strength in national and international competitions, he added.

BJP National Executive Meeting Concludes


The national executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party concluded Tuesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's closing speech. In his speech, the Modi said that India's best era is coming and everyone should dedicate themselves to the development of the country while addressing the second day of the Bharatiya Janata Party national executive meet.


"BJP is no longer a mere political movement but also a social movement working to transform socio-economic conditions," PM Modi told the gathering.


PM said that BJP workers have to forge connections with all sections of society with sensitivity and not do anything just for votes but to bring change in the country, reported ANI.

The United Nations Security Council on Monday listed Pakistan-based Abdul Rehman Makki as a global terrorist under its ISIL (Da'esh) and Al-Qaeda sanctions committee, reported ANI. The move came after China put on India's bid to name the Lashkar-e-Taiba leader a global terrorist.  


Greta Thunberg Detained In Germany


Climate activist Greta Thunberg was among those jailed during Tuesday's rallies against the demolition of the coal hamlet of Luetzerath, news agency Reuters reported citing police statements. 


Thunberg was arrested while protesting at the Garzweiler 2 opencast coal mine, around 9 kilometres (5.6 miles) from Luetzerath.


Thunberg, who joined the protestors on Friday, was seen alone in a large police bus after being seized, according to a Reuters witness.


"We are going to use force to get you to the identity check," a police officer told the group, according to the report.
