Breaking News LIVE: Earthquake Of Magnitude 4.1 Rattles Himachal Pradesh’ Mandi

An earthquake of 4.1 magnitude shook parts of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, according to the National Centre for Seismology. The epicentre of the temblor, which struck at 9:32 pm, was located 27 km north northwest of Mandi in the hill state. The Himalayan region along the Uttarakhand-Nepal border has experienced at least 10 earthquakes of varying magnitudes between November 8 and 16.

The government will increase the regional air connectivity levy charged from airlines operating on major routes to Rs 10,000 per departure from January 1, a move that could push the airfares higher. A girl in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow died after falling from the fourth floor of a building following a fight with a person living in the same colony, said the Police on Wednesday, reported news agency ANI. "A girl died after falling from the fourth floor after encountering a fight with a person living in the same colony. We have taken the family's statement in the matter, and the investigation is underway," said Chiranjeevnath Sinha, ADCP West. 


Addressing the matter, UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said "stringent action will be taken and unlawful activities will not be tolerated." 


"We've instructed police officials of all units to identify such people and take strict action, one that their generations will remember," Pathak added.

PM Modi To Inaugurate Bengaluru Tech Summit Virtually


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the silver jubilee edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS 22) virtually on Wednesday.


Karnataka IT and BT Minister C N Ashwath Narayan said on Tuesday, the three-day event at the Bengaluru Palace grounds will witness signing of nine MoUs and launch of over 20 products.


To mark the silver jubilee celebrations, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will release a plaque.


The summit has attracted more than 575 exhibitors, the Minister noted.


For the first time, startups belonging to 16 states of the country are participating, he stated.


Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy, UAE, Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Australia, Tim Watts, Minister of Science and Culture, Finland, Petri Honkonen and Chairman & CEO, Kyndryl USA, Martin Schroeter, would be among those present at the inaugural function.


RBI Governor To Meet CEOs Of Banks, To Discuss Slow Deposit Growth


Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das will hold a meeting with CEOs of public sector banks on Wednesday to discuss issues concerning slow deposit growth and sustainability of high credit demand, as reported by news agency PTI.


As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data, deposits rose by 9.6 per cent as compared to 10.2 per cent on a year-on-year basis, while credit offtake witnessed a jump of 17.9 per cent as against 6.5 per cent a year ago.


According to an agenda circulated for the meeting, sources said, sustainability, including pricing and slow growth of deposits, would be discussed.


There would be deliberation on asset quality in the retail and MSME segment, sources said.


Besides, the meeting would also review the functioning of Digital Banking Units launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month.


The robust growth performance in the first half of the current fiscal has been ably supported by a well-capitalised banking system that witnessed an upswing in credit disbursement to the retail, industry and services segments.
