The petrol-powered X3 is available in a single Luxury Line variant only
BMW has introduced a petrol engine in the recently launched X3 SUV. The petrol-powered X3 is available at a price of Rs 56.9 lakh (ex-showroom). The third-gen X3 was first launched in the country as a diesel only model in April 2018. It’s based on BMW’s latest CLAR (cluster architecture) platform, which embodies various weight-reducing panels that has helped it shed approximately 55kg.
The petrol engine of the X3 is a new twin-turbo 2.0-litre 4-cylinder unit that pumps out 255.5PS of max power and 350Nm of peak torque between 1450-4800rpm. It’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with steering-mounted paddle shifters. The X3 petrol variant sprints from 0-100kmph in just 6.3seconds. It offers four driving modes - Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport and Sport+.
The only petrol variant - xDrive30i Luxury Line - gets LED headlights, LED fog lamps, chrome radiator grille bars, dual-tone grey-matt skid plates with chrome trim, chrome-lined air-dams, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, rear spoiler and automatic tailgate.
Inside, the BMW X3 gets leather upholstery in Vernasca and a Sensatec-covered instrument panel with contrast stitching that catches your attention. The luggage space of the X3 is rated at 550 litres, which is further expandable to 1,600 litres by splitting the rear seats in a 40/20/40 combination.
The X3 is equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 600W Harman Kardon surround sound system, wireless charging and a 3-zone climate control. Panoramic sunroof ensures the cabin feels airy with more natural light flowing in. Safety features include six airbags, attentiveness assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), including Cornering Brake Control (CBC), and electric parking brake with auto hold.
The BMW X3 rivals the Mercedes-Benz GLC and LR Discovery Sport.
