After almost two years of delay, BMW Motorrad will finally be launching the Bavarian twins tomorrow
BMW Motorrad will finally be launching the G 310 R and the G 310 GS tomorrow, 18 June 2018. Bookings of the Bavarian twins began a while ago for a token amount of Rs 50,000. As befitting the German brand’s premium positioning we're expecting a premium price tag for both the models. The G 310 R is expected to fetch anywhere around Rs 3 lakh while the more adventurous GS is expected to be dearer by Rs 50,000.
In case you need a reminder, both the motorcycles pack the same 313cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This motor churns out 35PS of power and 28Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The G 310 R is more street-tuned with a longer swingarm and a tight wheelbase for easy manoeuvring in the city. On the other hand, the G 310 GS promises to be more adventure friendly with a different set of handlebars, long-travel suspension and distinctive ADV design.
Both motorcycles ride on conventional telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the back. However, the GS gets 180mm of extra travel in the front and 40mm more travel at the rear than the 310 R. Braking is handled by 300mm front and 240mm rear discs, with ABS coming as standard.
The BMW G 310 R will rival the KTM 390 Duke and the Benelli TNT 300, while the GS will go up against the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Kawasaki Versys-X 300.
