More power to the Pulsar series, as the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 awaits its launch in the last week of this month. The CS 400 is a 373 cc offering by Bajaj in its successful Pulsar premium offering. The Bajaj Pulsar CS 400 will be called the Bajaj Pulsar VS400 in its production form, according to a leaked brochure and an ARAI certificate. The leaked brochure and the ARAI certificate both confirmed that the Bajaj VS 400 would be powered by the KTM 390 Duke’s 373 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled powerplant delivering 34.5 PS, tuned to about 10 PS lesser than the KTM. The torque may also be tuned a bit low-key to enable smooth riding. In the Bajaj VS400, the instrument console between the handlebars feature the trip meter, tachometer and fuel gauge, all displayed in the digital format. The speedometer and gear indicator are placed above the fuel tank. The headlights are full LED and the taillights too, with side indicators. Bajaj has been offering these for the first time. Suspension duties are handled by conventional telescopic forks and rear monoshock suspension, while braking duties are carried out by front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. The Bajaj Pulsar VS400 will be positioned, upon launch, as the first cruiser motorcycle in India, with such higher displacement, made available at an affordable price of Rs. 1.5-1.8 lakh, ex-showroom. In its price range, the Bajaj Pulsar VS 400 will be competing against the Mahindra Mojo and the Royal Enfield. This motorcycle is expected to further the premium motorcycle market in India to higher displacement than the current 200 cc offerings, which is why the price of the VS400 is highly affordable.
