Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday opined that the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya should be performed by President Droupadi Murmu. Uddhav Thackeray called it a "matter of "national pride and country's self-respect", reported news agency PTI. In a presser, Thackeray said, he will also invite Murmu to the Kalaram temple in Nashik, where he will pay a visit on January 22, the day of the Ayodhya temple inauguration ceremony.

Thackeray had earlier announced that he along with his party leaders and office-bearers will visit the historic Kalaram temple in Nashik and perform 'Maha aarti' on the banks of the Godavari river, on January 22, per PTI's report.

A day later, a convention will be held of party functionaries in Nashik, where Thackeray will address a rally. "Shiv Sainiks who were part of the 'kar seva' in 1992 will also be felicitated in Nashik" he added, as quoted by PTI.

Thackeray took a dig at the BJP as he said, "When Somnath temple in Gujarat was restored, the formal ceremony was held by the country's first President Dr Rajendra Prasad", reported PTI.

A delegation representing the Ram Temple Trust on Friday formally invited President Murmu to attend the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

The delegation included Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) working president Alok Kumar, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Ram Lal, and Ram temple construction committee chairperson Nripendra Mishra.

Ram Mandir's inauguration is scheduled for January 22, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, special invitees, other leaders, and seers from across the country.

As Ayodhya readies for the momentous Jan 22 consecration, an intricate security tapestry unfolds, featuring AI-driven drones, multiple camera setups, and deployment of forces. Over 10,000 people are likely to attend the event. The number of devotees may go into millions on the day of the consecration ceremony.
