The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Andhra Pradesh alleging that the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) had enrolled a large number of bogus voters across the state. TDP's state unit president Kinjerapu Atchen Naidu claimed that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has been winning elections by manipulating the system rather than through genuine public support, IANS reported.
In its letter, the TDP has claimed that several bogus voters were enrolled with "single/same door number" and asked the CEO to ascertain the genuineness of all such cases. The aprty also sought the regular removal of names of people who have passed away, a report in The News Minute said.
Atchen Naidu said the CEO has assured a detailed inquiry at the ground level and appropriate action. "The TDP will certainly wage a war against the bogus votes both legally and at the grassroots level and check the YSRCP's illegal activities," Atchen Naidu stated.
"The CEO stated that the draft voters list will be published by October 17 which will be supplied to us and we can approach him after that with evidence if any deformities are found," Naidu further said.
Naidu also said TDP activists would act as watchdogs and lodge complaints with the CEO if they find any bogus votes being enrolled.
Stating that the party had already gathered information on how many bogus voters were enrolled, the individuals responsible, the gazetted officer who signed off on them and all other such details, Naidu said that the party would approach the High Court to file a case. The TDP has expressed its commitment to fight for justice and continue its efforts until appropriate action is taken.
