Mumbai: At a time when people are losing lives due to the global pandemic, a 71-year-old seer had allegedly died by suicide at a Jain temple in Ghatkopar area of Mumbai. The incident has been confirmed by the police on Thursday, and a suicide note has been recovered, too.
As per the PTI details, the seer known as Manohar Lal Muni Maharaj has himself at the temple on Wednesday night.
According to the suicide note recovered from the spot, the seer purportedly mentioned that "his guru appeared in his dream and asked him to come back as his work on the earth was completed". Also Read: India Staffer For Whom New Zealand High Commission Sought Oxygen Passes Away
However, the police didn't find anything suspicious even as it is being investigated. "There is nothing suspicious. We have recovered the suicide note in which he mentioned why he is taking the extreme step. We are conducting further probe into the case," Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone-7) Prashant Kadam said.
The body of the seer was taken to the Rajawadi Hospital for post-mortem and a case of accidental death was registered.
This is perhaps one of the many suicides where people end up taking such extreme steps under the influence of various religious cult. There are cases where people have gone to the extend of sacrificing for God.
