The Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s petrol engine has been updated to meet BS 6 emission norms and a new mild petrol-hybrid powertrain has also been added to the lineup, which is also BS 6 compliant. The prices of the 2019 Baleno powered by the 1.2-litre K12B naturally aspirated engine have gone up by upto Rs 19,000. You can see the variant-wise increase in the table below:

The new petrol-hybrid powertrain uses Maruti Suzuki’s new 1.2-litre K12C petrol engine in combination with the Smart Hybrid technology. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and is only being offered in two variants - Delta and Zeta - with no automatic option for now. The Delta petrol-hybrid variant is priced at Rs 7.25 lakh while the Zeta trim costs Rs 7.86 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), making them costlier than their regular petrol-variant options.

The standard 1.2-litre petrol engine in the Baleno claims a fuel efficiency figure of 21.4kmpl and the new Smart Hybrid powertrain pushes that upto 23.87 kmpl. This new 1.2-litre petrol-hybrid engine is offered in other markets too and has a higher performance rating than the regular K12B engine. In its UK-spec, this engine produces 90PS of power and 120Nm of torque, which is 6PS and 5Nm more than the usual 1.2-litre petrol-only engine.
