The sub-4m compact SUV gets automatic transmission as an option; ABS, dual airbags as standard and comes with a new orange body colour

Maruti Suzuki is all-set to give a mild-update to the Vitara Brezza soon. The details of the updated model have been leaked ahead of official reveal.

Main Changes:

The biggest update to the model comes in the form of an option of AMT (automated manual transmission) now with the diesel engine, which is carried forward as it is. However, it will be the first time that Maruti will offer an AMT with the DDiS200, which is the more powerful version of the 1.3-litre diesel engine. The DDiS190, a lower tuned version of the same 1.3-litre diesel engine, is already available with the option of an AMT on cars like the Swift, Dzire and the Ignis.

The 1.3-litre DDiS200 diesel engine delivers 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque. It will continue to be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission. The AMT will be available as an option on all variants except the base.  Other than that, ABS and dual front airbags will now be standard across the Brezza range.

There isn’t any drastic cosmetic change to its front or rear. The Brezza now gets chrome garnish on front grille and the boot door handle (earlier it was body coloured on lower variants) on all variants. Maruti Suzuki has also opted to leave out the variant badging at the rear in the Brezza, like on the Swift. Rear parking sensors will join the list of standard features of the compact SUV.

The carmaker has replaced the blue shade of the present Brezza for a new orange colour, which is offered with the Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport as well. This colour was first showcased by Maruti Suzuki at the unveil of the Brezza at the 2016 Auto Expo. Moreover, the grey alloys of the Zdi and Zdi+ have been swapped with black ones.

The 2018 Maruti Vitara Brezza will continue to get an all-black upholstery on the inside besides the regular features such as auto AC, two-pod instrument cluster with mood lighting and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink in the top variant.

Tata’s recently launched Nexon automatic also bundles a diesel engine with an AMT gearbox. It is priced at Rs 9.41 lakh for the top of the line XZA+ variant, the only variant in which it is available. Prices of the Brezza currently start from Rs 7.28 lakh and go up to Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Expect a marginal increase in the price of variants with manual transmission. We expect the AMT variants to cost around Rs 40,000 more than their manual counterparts.
