With the launch slated for August, booking can be made for a refundable amount of Rs 11,000

The 2018 Ciaz is going to be the next big launch from India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki. If you are interested in becoming one of its first owners then we have some news for you. Select Nexa dealerships across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Pune have been accepting unofficial bookings for the sedan for an upfront payment of Rs 11,000 since the past few days. The amount is fully refundable in case you change your mind.

A couple of dealers have even assured us that the Ciaz facelift can be delivered within 15 to 20 days if a pre-launch booking is made. Some dealerships across the country have already started receiving the facelift model, images of which have been leaked online, revealing some interesting details.

Being a facelift, it’s the face that gets the majority of updates. The front grille is now finished in black honeycomb shade with chrome lining at its top and bottom and some more around the fog lamp housing. The smoked LED projector headlamps are blacked out and receive DRLs as well. Towards the sides, it gets Dzire-like new diamond-cut multi-spoke alloy wheels while the rear also receives some bling in the form of taillights with LED elements and chrome garnishing around the reflectors mounted on the bumper.

Step inside and the interior layout remains same. The dashboard is still finished in beige and black with the exception of lacquered faux wood trim. Features such as cruise control (visible on the steering wheel), auto headlamps (available on Dzire) and an updated instrument cluster have been added to the feature list.

Petrol buyers will be treated to a new, slightly bigger and more powerful 1.5-litre engine which churns out 104.7PS of power with 138Nm of torque and features the mild-hybrid SHVS technology from Suzuki. The Ciaz diesel, however, will continue with the 1.3-litre DDiS engine which churns out 89PS of power and 200Nm of torque, but it won’t be available at the time of launch. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission but it remains to be seen whether Maruti announces the 4-speed automatic with the new petrol engine again or not.
