The litre-class superbike will most likely be assembled in Chakan and is expected to receive a significant price-drop
Kawasaki India has started accepting bookings for the 2018 Ninja ZX-10R. Customers can now book the motorcycle across all 28 Kawasaki dealerships in India for a token amount of Rs 3 lakh.
While the company hasn't announced a launch date yet, we expect the Ninja ZX-10R to hit the showrooms next month. Like the Ninja 1000, the ZX-10R is likely to be assembled in India. This will make it significantly cheaper than launching it as a CBU. Currently, it is priced at Rs 15.8 lakh (ex-showroom). This will make it the most affordable litre-class motorcycle in India, a position currently held by the Honda CBR 1000RR, which retails for Rs 14.78 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
Powering the ZX-10R is a 998cc, in-line four, liquid-cooled engine capable of producing 200PS of power at 13,000rpm and 113.5Nm of torque at 11,500rpm. Not surprisingly, the ZX-10R is widely regarded as one of the most track focused litre-class motorcycle out there. It has even managed to make a name for itself by winning the World Superbike Championship three years in a row.
Apart from the ZX-10R, the Japanese manufacturer also sells a more exciting version of the motorcycle called the ZX-10RR. Priced at premium of Rs 17.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), it gets a KQS quick-shifter, a five-stage traction control system, three-stage launch control and more!
