When Is Diwali 2023?

Diwali, one of the biggest festival for Hindus, symbolises the victory of light over darkness. According to religious texts, Diwali marks the day when Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya with wife Sita and brother Lakshman, after defeating and slaying Ravan in Lanka and completing 14 years of exile. To welcome their return, the entire city of Ayodhya was said to have been illuminated with lamps. Since then, Diwali has been celebrated every year on the new moon day of Kartik month. On this day, homes are illuminated, and people worship Goddess Lakshmi, seeking happiness, prosperity, and wealth.
This year, Diwali will be celebrated on Sunday, November 12.
